The Association of Mountaineering Instructors is the representative body for professional instructors who have undergone rigorous training and assessment to qualify under Mountain Leader Training UK (MLTUK) guidelines
The Union of International Mountain Leaders is the International body representing holders of the IML. This qualification lets the holder lead groups in different mountains all over the world, where the skills of alpinism are not required. IMLs can work with groups on high altitude treks as well as leading groups on snow shoes. IML’s, from every member country, have to maintain International Continuing Professional Development (ICPD) to ensure that members are kept up-to-date with the latest developments in mountain leadership.
The British Association of International Mountain Leaders is the Professional Organisation representing and overseeing British holders of the IML award
The Mountain Leader Training Association is the body for holders of all levels of awards under the MLTUK scheme
This logo means that I am an approved provider of National Governing Body awards under Mountain Leader Training Scotland

Winter Courses are all designed around you and your
aspirations. After finding out about what you want to
get out of our time together I will suggest some
possible itineraries. Then we can develop the program
from there be it for a single day, a weekend, or a 5
day course.
Whether you want: to develop your own winter
climbing skills, be guided on a classic climb, an
introduction to winter mountaineering or a winter
walking skills course I can help you create something
suitable for your time frame and budget.

I live and work in the Highlands so have a good feel
for the ever changing conditions that winter brings.
This gives me a good chance of choosing a good
venue for what you would like to do.
Whilst February often books out months in advance
never be afraid to give me a call for availability at
short notice, especially in January and March.

By keeping to small ratios you are ensured that the
course proceeds at your pace. You wont be in a
group with strangers and shouldnt therefore feel held
back or pushed to learn too quickly.
I'm currently based on the West of Scotland but
often travel to work in the far Northwest (Torridon,
Applecross and other areas of the Northern
Highlands)and the Cairngorms.

For more details and suggested course types see the
links below. If you dont see what you want drop me
an e-mail to discuss options designed for you.
