The Association of Mountaineering Instructors is the representative body for professional instructors who have undergone rigorous training and assessment to qualify under Mountain Leader Training UK (MLTUK) guidelines
The Union of International Mountain Leaders is the International body representing holders of the IML. This qualification lets the holder lead groups in different mountains all over the world, where the skills of alpinism are not required. IMLs can work with groups on high altitude treks as well as leading groups on snow shoes. IML’s, from every member country, have to maintain International Continuing Professional Development (ICPD) to ensure that members are kept up-to-date with the latest developments in mountain leadership.
The British Association of International Mountain Leaders is the Professional Organisation representing and overseeing British holders of the IML award
The Mountain Leader Training Association is the body for holders of all levels of awards under the MLTUK scheme

Many thanks for our two days together. Looking over the videos for the first time
today (got home at 01.30 am this morning after a 15 hours journey) I feel a bit
astonished we did that. Its been one of those experiences where I feel I could die
tomorrow and feel fulfilled.

Gordon Eas Anie and Watefal Gully Winter Climbing Jan 2010

Many thanks for a first class day out.
I couldn't have asked for a better instructor or a better route.
I got to do a classic line, I picked up a load of good tips and learned a lot into the
bargain.
Haven't stopped smiling since I read the blog!!!
All the best at Glenmore, I hope to see a lot more of you in the future!.

...Much more importantly, however was the standard of the instruction. Every
situation, however cold, however windy, however steep the ground, was treated
as a teaching opportunity. As a group we were challenged both physically and
mentally but our individual confidence was nurtured by the trust, respect and
genuine admiration we gained for our instructor through his constant guidance and
reassurance. I suspect that Alan is not alone on your staff in having that rare
ability to exert authority while at the same time making his students feel valued
as individuals.

Paul Glenmore Lodge Introduction to Winter Skills Jan 2010

just a quick e-mail to say thanks for an excellent week climbing at Glenmore Lodge
and also for the photos and videos. Workmates have for some reason decided that
I am mad after seeing the videos...

Dilwyn Glenmore Lodge Introduction to Winter Climbing Feb 2010

Thanks very much for yesterday, we both enjoyed it a lot and learned even more.
I climbed that blue 5 again and it worked out fine from bottom to top using all the
techniques we learned and then I went on to redpoint a 6a that I´ve failed at
before, and managed to get that one linked up within 15 minutes or so.
We both feel it was well worth the money and time invested and hope that we
could perhaps arrange for another session in a few months to follow up and
improve on our technique.

Jens and Hannah Coaching session on indoor climbing wall May 2010

Hi Alan, I can't thank you enough for a really awesome week!
I loved every moment of it even in bad weather. You and Richard did a
tremendous job taking us up and over the ridge and on the additional climbs after
the traverse. It exceeded all my expectations and I will certainly plan similar trips
in other parts of the country/world in the future.
Thanks also for all the great photos and videos. I've directed quite a few friends to
your blog already and they all think what we did is fantastic!
Bruises are becoming more and more colourful every day and fingerprints are
regenerating slowly. And of course a big thank you for your support on the
steepest slopes...

Etienette 4 days on Skye including Cuillin Ridge Traverse June 2010

Just wanted to say thanks for your patience and encouragment over the last few
days, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and confirmed some aspirations for the furture.

Mo Intro. to Lead Climbing in the North West Highlands July 2010

We would both like to thank you for our course last week as we feel that apart from
being a great experience, your positive approach and style of coaching was just
what we wanted. I now feel ready to begin outdoors and Helen has benefited
hughly from the short 3 days we spent with you. I wouldn`t hesitate to reccomend
you as it was a great experience.
