The Association of Mountaineering Instructors is the representative body for professional instructors who have undergone rigorous training and assessment to qualify under Mountain Leader Training UK (MLTUK) guidelines
The Union of International Mountain Leaders is the International body representing holders of the IML. This qualification lets the holder lead groups in different mountains all over the world, where the skills of alpinism are not required. IMLs can work with groups on high altitude treks as well as leading groups on snow shoes. IML’s, from every member country, have to maintain International Continuing Professional Development (ICPD) to ensure that members are kept up-to-date with the latest developments in mountain leadership.
The British Association of International Mountain Leaders is the Professional Organisation representing and overseeing British holders of the IML award
The Mountain Leader Training Association is the body for holders of all levels of awards under the MLTUK scheme
This logo means that I am an approved provider of National Governing Body awards under Mountain Leader Training Scotland

Skye
The 'misty isle' offers unique attractions to mountaineers in Britain as the most
technically interesting mountain range in the UK. The Innaccesible Pinnacle is
the only munro that needs ropework skills for most people to ascend and a
complete traverse of the ridge is a lifetime ambition for many hillgoers.
Whether you want:
-To sample the superb scrambles on the main ridge
over several days (most fit walkers can cope with
the ridge over 3 day trips from the glen floor-
weather permitting)
-Explore some of the other classic routes such as
the Dubhs ridge, the Blaven Clach Glas traverse, or
an ascent to the Cioch or,
-Tackle Britains finest mountaineering challenge - a
complete traverse of the Cuillin in 1 expedition my
experience and knowledge of the ridge will help you
achieve your objective.
Please note, the latter is a challenging objective
needing planning, training and good weather to
maximise our chances. Please
contact me to discuss your plans.
Guiding and Instruction
The freedom to go where you want to in the hills is a real joy. I can help you
achieve a classic route like Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis, The Aonach Eagach in
Glencoe, a traverse of Liathach in Torridon or the Forcan Ridge of Glen Shiel.
Want to go it alone?
We can look at the essential mountaineering skills
for a scrambler in the UK:
-Revision of essential walking skills
(navigation, emergency procedure etc.)
-Equipment selection
-Guidebook interpretation
-Route finding and movement skills
-Anchor selection and belay construction
